How it all started
Hi! I’m Christy, the owner and lead designer of Bubbles & Bows! LLC
My journey into the world of balloon art began quite unexpectedly when I was asked to decorate for my twin grandchildren’s second birthday. That initial request sparked a passion in me, leading me to immerse myself in balloon art. I instantly fell in love with it. As I balanced this new interest with my corporate career in retail, where I had spent my entire working life, my enthusiasm for my creative side hustle grew. Eventually, I made the significant decision to leave the corporate world and pursue my balloon business full-time.
In early March 2020, just as I took a leap and opened my first physical store for my business, the world faced the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to global lockdowns. With the timing seemingly against me, I was terrified I had made a monumental mistake. However, determined to succeed, I quickly adapted by offering porch pickups, deliveries, and yard displays. These changes not only kept my business alive but also allowed it to flourish during the pandemic, becoming a “COVID success story.” During a time when joy was scarce, my business provided a much-needed uplift, garnering incredible support from our community.
Now, four years into running a brick-and-mortar location, the business has continued to grow, moving into its third location and expanding each year. I now lead a wonderful team that helps live out our mission to “bring JOY on purpose.” We serve a mix of repeat clients, referrals, and new customers, many of whom have become friends. This venture has not only served as a creative outlet but has also enriched my life, allowing me to experience the profound impact of spreading joy through my work.
